PacRim 2016 Initial Planning Meeting This Wednesday, January 6th.

January 3, 2016

pacrim flagsThe Pacific Rim Yachting Challenge 2016 (PacRim 2016) is being held in Nakhodka, Russia on July 30th, 2016 through August 8th, 2016 .

This prestigious event, based on Bellingham’s Sister Cities relationships alternates between participating cities of the Pacific Rim.  It’s beginning was the result of the first post-Cold War visits of Nakhodka sailors visiting Bellingham with their sailboat “Kapitan Panaev” in 1988.

DSC_1624“PacRim is about world peace, it helped build  understanding between the Soviet Union and the US during the Cold War.”

An initial planning meeting will be held on Jan 6th, 2016, 6PM at the BYC for information, committee formation, and assignments, as well as a presentation about Nakhodka by Nina Talbot, the BSCA City Chair for Nakhodka.

Applications are now being accepted for racers and ambassadors and anyone can apply.  Team USA will be homestay hosted in Nakhodka and enjoy not only racing but many wonderful Nakhodka cultural attractions and hospitality.

Go to pacrim2016.org , download applications and enjoy this memorable opportunity.
