On Thursday, July 27, from 5:00-9:00 PM Aslan Depot is proud to host the re-release of its special Tateyama beer based upon a recipe shared by a brewmaster in Japan. This exchange was done as part of a Bellingham Sister City activity with the city of Tateyama, the first of seven sister cities with which Bellingham is affiliated. Affectionately dubbed “Bellingham Sister Cities Association Pint Night,” one dollar of every Tateyama beer purchased on July 27 will help fund the $1,500 Peace Grant that BSCA offers each year.
One of the two high points of the evening will be a huge “Toast” or “Kampai” at 7:00 PM in which everyone is invited to participate. The other is the opportunity to join the BSCA for $25 and, in turn, receive a token you can exchange for a can of beer as you exit the Depot. Please note that this event is at Aslan Depot, not the Aslan Brewing Company on North Forest Steet.
The seven sister cities with which Bellingham is affiliated are Tateyama (Japan), Vaasa (Finland), Port Stephens (Australia), Tsetserleg (Mongolia), Cheongju (South Korea), Punta Arenas (Chile) and Nakhodka, Russia.
